Do you often have clients complaining of BACK STRAIN?
Do your clients
STIFFEN UP through stress, the demands of work, lack
of activity, a sedentary lifestyle, or from awkward bending
and twisting practices, or sudden or unfamiliar bursts of
activity that put pressure on the back (such as DIY)? Does
your massage tend only to
MINIMISE THEIR DISCOMFORT without reducing, or REVERSING
this accumulation of tension?
This course is designed to teach Massage Therapists how to use
The SuppleSpine Programme with their clients. It consists of
SPECIFIC MOVEMENTS, which are performed WITHOUT PAIN OR
STRAIN, that are designed to REVIVE AND THEN MAINTAIN THE NATURAL FLEXIBILITY OF THE
BACK, either after a problem episode, or a lifetime of
stiffening up.
Initially we look at the POTENTIAL MOVEMENTS OF THE SPINE,
SHOULDER GIRDLE and PELVIS and the actions
of related muscles. This
ANATOMICAL UNDERSTANDING is used to guide
participants through a series of
INTERESTING, GENTLE EXERCISES, which INCREASE SUPPLENESS
and
DEVELOP AWARENESS OF ONE'S BACK IN ACTION.
Participants then learn PRELIMINARY DEEP MASSAGE and VIBRATORY TECHNIQUES
to
RELEASE back tensions, how to use the movement
sequences in the course of treatments, and to help clients
establish a
HOME PROGRAMME for SELF-CARE.
The workshop has a three fold approach. It covers hands-on
work (primarily table work but also including some chair work)
which is designed to: release back tensions through deep
massage and mobilise the client’s back (through passive
stretches and mobilising movements for the trunk). The main
focus is on teaching the client the SuppleSpine exercises, so
that they can establish a self-maintenance home programme to
extend and maintain suppleness throughout the spine.
PLEASE NOTE that this course covers common back
tension and strains that don’t require the intervention of
an osteopath, chiropractor, or physiotherapist. |
